The township of Henderson first emerged from the 1940s during Wwii with the building from the Basic Magnesium Plant. Henderson quickly had been a main supplier of magnesium in the United States, which was referred to as the "miracle metal" of Wwii. The explosions sent shockwaves with the Las Vegas Valley, shattering glass and damaging buildings miles away in nearby Las Vegas. The explosions also caused some earthquakes, a few of which measured over 3.0 around the Richter magnitude scale. Two people were killed, as well as an additional 372 people were injured.
