When it comes to building a successful business online, you need to know the overall process of keyword research. This type of research allows you to rank higher in the search engines, gradually climbing up the Google ladder and gaining you more visitors each day.
Here is a guide to help you learn how to analyze keywords, and find the best ones for your website. Keyword research can be done by hand or with certain programs. There are even search engine experts that you can hire to give you a report. However, this could cost you hundreds of dollars if not more. On average, it can take anywhere from an hour to a few hours to find the perfect keyword. By picking up a program, you could cut your time in half and have better results. Let’s use the most basic application for our research.
You will need to head on over to Google’s Keyword Planner which is a free online tool that allows you to find the best keywords to optimize your website for. Look for a keyword that is searched for at least 500 times a month, this will be listed under the “Avg. Monthly Searches” column. You want a keyword that isn’t too dominant in the search engines results, so this means the number of competing websites should be low. In Google’s Keyword Planner, you will see this as “Competition”, (low, medium or high).
Choose keywords that are low in completion – they should be easier and faster to rank for.
If you add related, semantic keywords in your article, it is possible to rank a few spots above your competitors. Most website owners do not do this, but it is a simple method a competent, results oriented SEO company will use to get better rankings. Also, once you find your keyword, always have that as the title of your blog, preferably in the beginning of the title.
